Why Your Reception Dances Are Better Choreographed

Wedding receptions traditionally have first dance of the newlyweds as well as dances with their parents, and these dances are still present until today. It's because they're not only special and memorable to both the parents and the couples, but are also entertaining and moving to the guests. Although impromptu sway and slow dances are sufficient enough, if you have the means, skill and time to upgrade your dances with more suave and coordinated moves, why not?

People usually think, "it's just a couple of dances. Let's just get this over with." If you're not one of them and you're considering to take your dances up a notch, here are some reasons to convince you why choreographed dances are gradually taking over the reception scene:

1. More charm and entertainment factor

Perhaps it's safe to assume people have seen hundreds of sways and slow dances with 2 people holding hands and hugging and just swaying around. It can be romantic, intimate, emotional and touching, but on the other hand, it could also be dull and bland especially if the dancers don't have much emotion to show. Guests also tend to have short attention span and would look at their phones after a while. However, with good extra moves and coordination, a couple of swings and gestures, or even a totally different genre like modern hiphop dances, you are sure to delight not only your guests, but also yourselves.

2. Better shots for photos and video

More additional angles and movements prove very essential for photos and videos. A photo with your partner laying you down and looking in your eyes, a snippet of your dad twirling you around, or a funky dance showdown, whatever the moves and the genres, these are undeniably a very special addition to your priceless memories.

3. Goodbye to awkward and repeated movements

Sometimes, the music for dances can be long, and with no practiced movements and routines, it can be awkward and dull. It would be a pity if you managed to pull off a nicely styled reception, engaging program but lackluster dances.

More so if you're not good dancers! Choreography does not have to be complicated. You just need to have a system of steps and moves to follow to dance properly and gracefully. Without these, you might just seem like you're both standing and swaying around and moving in circles.

4. Bonding moments with your dance partner

Choreographed dances means you have to rehearse, and that means... spending more time with your partner! Workout a bit and have fun with your instructor. Treat these sessions as additional moments to cherish as you will not again practice and rehearse for any other day, except maybe if you want to redo your dance for a future anniversary celebration or renewal? <3
