Chapter 9: Falling in Love With Our Wedding Rings

This will be a special chapter as it's purely dedicated for our wedding rings. We did not do any additional research nor canvassing as Forever Couple was one of our non-negotiable suppliers. Our must-haves!

We travelled to HK for a brief errand around June 2019 to buy some of the Tinghun necessities, as well as to drop by Forever Couple to start having our rings made. They are a HK based ring manufacturer. We loved them because of their advanced engraving technology and top-notch quality of the materials. You can have handwriting, portraits, fingerprints or cardiogram engraved in the rings. How's that for one-of-a-kind? It's their signature craft and it's what we've been eyeing for a long time to have. Now it's finally time!

We visited their Tsim Sha Chui branch at The One mall and their sales personnel, Andy, accommodated and entertained us immediately. We told him we're interested with their signature product and he immediately knew what we're talking about. Right there, he gathered our sizes, got our fingerprints taken, and all other details and deign preferences needed for the ring. It would take approximately 6 months to finish the ring as all their rings are fully customized. Any kind of the desired engravings were already included in the package. We chose portrait, fingerprint and text as the inner engraving. I'm not going to post the price here but please feel free to contact me if you're interested. All I can say is it's very much higher and expensive than your average wedding rings. We were prepared for this even before visiting the store, and for something unique and quality that we would wear and cherish for a lifetime, it was definitely worth it for us. as for the sizing, they even gave us a 3 dummy ring sizes (one size smaller, current size and one size larger) each so we can try them repeatedly when we get home to make sure it's the ideal size before they proceed. I think we were there at the store for a good 1 hour or so since we were deciding carefully on the design, content as well as the number of diamonds.

Since portrait was one of our engraving choices, they knew a cartoonist that can do it for us, and we simply edited it to our liking before having them engraved. As for the fingerprints, we made them into a half heart shape per ring. For the text, we indicated the map coordinates of our wedding venue (Sunlight Ecotourism Island Resort), one coordinate per ring. We sent all these details through WeChat to Andy., as he gave us sufficient time to decide on the details of the ring before we proceed. Coz there's no going back once it started!

Left Photo: The finished work their cartoonist sent us using our photos. Right Photo: The photo I edited. We prefer to remove details and left most of the outlines. The engraving would look too dark for our liking if it's too detailed.

The final mockup design of the inner band of the ring engraving

After a few days, they sent the final mockup:

My hubby's sister would be going to HK around September, so she would be able to pick up our rings. Thankfully,, they would be able to finish the rings by that time as we would also be using this during our Tinghun in October. We also settled the remaining balance through online bank transfer. Around end of August or early September, they sent the finished product photos. We immediately fell in love! Really not regretting choosing them to do our rings. Even our coordinator who had seen too many rings was intrigued!

With these rings made exactly the way we pictured, we were even more excited to get married! Excited to wear the rings everyday, that is!
