Chapter 13: Our Final Stages of Wedding Planning

Nearly there! How time flies.

After our Tinghun, we now had the opportunity to fully focus on the upcoming wedding as it's just 4 months away. It's more tedious in our case as it's a destination wedding. There are A LOT of stuff that needs to be completed early, and packed securely for transport through the resort's ship cargo. They included the round trip transport of items as part of our wedding package, which was really a huge help!

At this point, I had completed filling and repacking the perfume favors we would be giving away to all our guests.

These glass perfume bottles with engrave design (designed by yours truly) was ordered by my hubby from China. They already came with the foam and fabric fillers and the box. One for men and one for women. The sticker monograms were from our invitation supplier, Yanna's Printshop, while I finished with a gold stretchable string for each box to add to the presentation and keep them secured.

For the perfume itself, we searched for a reliable supplier in Shopee and found KC Perfumes. They have outstanding client reviews. So how would we know what perfume to put in them? Good thing they sell trial sets, so we first ordered this. It contained 24 trial viands, 12 women's and 12 men's, including the case, paper bag and perfume list, as seen in the photo below.

In the end, we chose Britney Spears Fantasy for women, and Ralph Lauren Polo Red for men. When we finally ordered the refill bottles in bulk, then came in very secured packaging with bubble wraps and taped to the brim to avoid spillage. This was one of the reasons why I chose them too. They also include freebie viands per delivery.

The next notable item we purchased was this special gold champagne glasses. We initially did not thought of this, but it was recommended by our coordinator to add a touch of something special during our crossover toasting, as well as for photos. This was also bought from Shopee, came in very secured packaging as well.

Meanwhile, my dad and my brother had also done their shoe shopping. We suggested them to use brown ones as it suits best with a beige suit or dress pants. These shoes are from The SM Store, Salvatore Mann brand. They really didn't need to buy anything expensive anyway, especially if it's seldom used. I also bought a hat for my dad, from Shopee, to be used during our hip father-daughter dance. The last photo was the pants we bought for all groomsmen from Van Heusen.

Same goes for my hubby. He had already started with his suit, just enough time to make it to the big day as men's custom suits are easier to deal with then bridal gowns. Like last Tinghun, he also wanted another special and spectacular suit. So, we went to SM Megamall and visited Suit It Up. They have a wide range of never-seen-before suit fabrics, from the usual one-tone ones to plaids to wild prints, most were imported from England. Eventually, we decided on this Holland and Sherry fabric from their Crystal Springs collection that's perfect for our theme! He also wanted 2 vests, one plain, one plaid, to go with the suit. He wanted to have change looks during the reception, wearing only the plaid vest.

We also have another giveaway to our guests together with our fans during the ceremony. We bought these sun-visors and had them printed with our initials. These sunvisors are bought from Wintess Commercial Divisoria, while we had FunPrint located at Araneta Square Caloocan to do the printing. Wintess also had printing but we did not avail from them due to price.

It was around October or early November that I had completed all necessary items needed that can be transported via the resort's ship cargo scheduled to land and depart on December. The key here is to be super detailed. Put everything in an inventory list for proper turnover to the coordinator and cargo handler, as well as the recipient in the resort. Properly label, measure, count and itemize everything to the tee. These boxes below contain our prenup paraphernalia, the guests' giveaways (fans, perfumes, sun-visors, shades, bubble blowers), gifts to principal sponsors, bridesmaids and groomsmen in Kraft boxes, white wines and whisky for toasting, sparkling wines, coffee and tea for cocktail hour, my mannequin, and many other nitty gritty materials for the big day. Bought the handy "Fragile" tape, from... you guessed it, Shopee.

So here's the whole lot. Really took up some space in my house for months!

There wasn't much progress on December as we were on vacation mode, and suppliers are all busy with it being the peak season. But at this point everything's pretty much done. Come January 2020 to the remaining days before our big day, there was nothing much else to do but finishing touches like picking up my gown, his suit, composing our vows, getting our marriage license, rehearsing our dance routines and of course, beautifying myself for the big day. There wasn't much going on with other suppliers as we simply booked them and wait for their service on the big day. Some were also recommended my by coordinator. See full supplier list at the bottom end.

Days before our wedding I had my hair colored. It was suggested by our HMUA that I get a dark brownish color so that my hair can be highlighted better against the light and cameras compared to my natural lightish black hair. They would also be using hair extensions on me as my hair is quite fine to give it volume for the different looks, so I had to match the colors somehow. I chose KOOP Studio to do my hair, care of the ever sought after color guru Fendi George. I simply showed him my color peg which was Kryz Uy's wedding hair, and also his own work! I also explained that hair extensions will be used to my hair. So I'm quite confident with the outcome, and boy he did not disappoint. I don't color my hair actually. I just had it once during college and that was it. Seeking Fendi was totally worth it despite the sky rocket price because I totally fell in love with the color! No regrets here.

Not really used to having my hair colored, but I totally love the outcome! Just the way I wanted.

Last in my agenda before the day was my nails, which I featured here.

So here we were, around end of January thinking everything's going according to plan, finishing even earlier than expected without any stress nor hiccups. But low and behold, a new enemy more than ourselves, and more than mankind expect emerged, we all know what that is - the Covid-19.

I'll feature a new chapter narrating how we faced the sudden changes in our plans as well as how we coped with the obstacles to still be able to execute the wedding of our dreams, soon.
