Chapter 10: My Dream Bridal Barefoot Sandals

We're coming down close to my outfit! In the previous chapters I did mention I was eyeing to wear barefoot sandals as my shoes, at least during the ceremony at the beach. I've browsed thru online shops and Shopee and Lazada, but did not manage to find a barefoot sandal that's good enough for my liking. So, I resorted in looking for somebody who can customize.

You must have heard of Jefferson Si. He's very well-known in making custom shoes and he's also my first choice as his works and his clients speaks for his craft. However, upon inquiry and consultation, his price point just did not sit right with me. For this peg:

He quoted me Php 30,000. Yes, I can afford that, but for shoes that does not even need luxury materials, no soles and exaggerated embellishments, Php 30k seemed too expensive. However, this seemed to be his minimum starting price already, so I have no choice but to look elsewhere.

Thankfully, I found Waltz Manila in IG, and I'm instantly hooked with her works. Client reviews were good too, so I immediately contacted her for pricing. Like fate, her pricing worked. Including a convertible sole, it just costed Php 9,000 + SF. That's a whopping difference from 30k which I was happy to pass.

Ms. Isabel Abonal is the owner of Waltz Manila. She was the one who personally accommodated and communicated with her clients. We mainly communicated through Viber by sending photos, pegs, progress and ideas. It's actually a teamwork, a collaboration between Waltz and the client to produce a one-of-a-kind shoes that's just for you.

The above photos were some of the first photos that show work in progress. She let me choose my preferred lace, flower appliques, type of cutting, materials and structure.

Next came the initial fitting and testing of the chosen materials. Ms. Isabel sent these unfinished items for me to properly fit them so she could still make arrangements if there's any problems in the fitting, as well as indicating parts that need to be cut, materials that need to be replaced and so on. What we did is replace the satin lace up as it tends to slip down while walking. We replaced it later with a more stable and rough cord to make it stay up. Then, I delivered these materials back to her again. The delivery fee (2-way) for this initial fitting is already inclusive in the quotation.

After about 2-3 months, here's the finished product!

I will be posting photos of the shoes when I actually wore them during my wedding in the upcoming chapters, though you must have already seen them somewhere in my website.

My verdict? I fell in love with the sandals upon opening the box! It's everything what we both envisioned, what we both meticulously discussed and collaborated, and it came out beautifully! You definitely can't find RTW barefoot bridal sandals like this anywhere online, or even in shops. It's definitely special and matched well with my theme and my gown. I'm just beyond happy to have chosen and worked with Ms. Isabel on this. It's one of my happiest decisions during our wedding planning. Highly recommended for quality, customer service, and friendly price point.
